New work requirement rules for SNAP are now in effect and may impact some people in our community. If you or someone you know receives SNAP benefits, it’s important to understand what’s changing and what steps to take to stay covered.
Who may be affected?
Adults in New York State ages 18–64 who:
- are able to work, and
- are not living with a child under age 14.
These requirements can vary by person and may include:
- working a certain number of hours
- volunteering
- participating in a job training program
