TRILLIUM HEALTH’S PRESIDENT & CEO WINS NATIONAL ADVOCACY AWARD

“We must ensure that underserved communities have access to high-quality primary care.”

February 14, 2021 (ROCHESTER, NY) – Trillium Health is proud to announce that Andrea DeMeo, President and CEO, has won the “NACHC Grassroots MVP Award” from the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC). Ms. DeMeo was honored for leading an all-volunteer, national coalition that advocates on behalf of 108 Look-Alike safety net providers across the United States.

“I was incredibly honored to receive this award,” said Andrea DeMeo, President and CEO of Trillium Health. “It has been an honor to lead the FQHC Look-Alike Advocacy Coalition in partnership with my colleagues across the nation. We must ensure that underserved communities have access to high-quality primary care.”

Federally Qualified Health Center Look-Alikes, like Trillium Health, are a vital part of the nation’s health care safety net, ensuring that medically underserved and uninsured communities have access to high-quality primary care. While FQHC Look-Alikes are held to the same clinical, financial, and administrative requirements as full-FQHCs, they are not given access to the same funding.

Ms. DeMeo is the co-chair of the FQHC Look-Alike Coalition, which was formed in July of 2021. As a leader for the coalition, DeMeo educates policymakers about the essential role that Look-Alikes play and the need to find a pathway to ensure the long term sustainability of community health centers.

The NACHC Grassroots MVP Award was named in honor of the late Elizabeth K. (Betsey) Cooke, whose constant effort and unflagging persistence as an advocate for Community Health Centers set an example for all Health Center Advocates to follow. All MVP Award recipients were nominated by their peers. Andrea DeMeo was nominated by The Wright Center in Scranton, Pennsylvania.

An announcement of this recognition will be included in the 2022 Policy & Issues Forum the week of February 14, 2022.
