Since 1996, The MOCHA Center has remained committed to addressing racial disparities in healthcare and providing space for young LGBTQ+ people of color to be themselves. We’re deeply committed to our community, and we have a passion for social justice and advocacy.

That’s why we’re excited to announce that MOCHA Buffalo will be joining Evergreen Health, where we’ll be able to continue our legacy of serving Queer and Trans folks of color throughout the Western New York Region, in furtherance of the values we were founded upon. MOCHA Rochester will remain a part of Trillium Health at 470 West Main Street in downtown Rochester.

We believe that the best way to serve the community is to more closely align our outreach and engagement work with a local community health center. We’ve been working closely with the team at Evergreen, and with support from the community, we will ensure a smooth transition, effective in May of 2021.

We will continue to offer the programs and services currently offered by MOCHA Buffalo, and we will provide seamless referrals to get people into care. Evergreen Health is similar to Trillium Health in many ways - both agencies share a longstanding commitment to LGBTQ+ communities, and Evergreen is the leading provider of PrEP in the Buffalo area.

This is an exciting new phase in MOCHA Buffalo’s growth. Relocating to the Evergreen campus will provide a stronger connection to Gay Lesbian Youth Services (GLYS) and Primary Care of Western New York (PCWNY) to benefit the larger LGBTQ+ community. It will also help to strengthen Evergreen Health’s existing LGBTQ+ programming and synergy.

We will do everything we can to support the community during this transition. We look forward to advancing our mutual goal of improving health equity for LGBTQ+ people of color.
