meet our team

We're proud to follow the WPATH standards of care in providing gender affirming care. Our entire staff at Trillium Health is trained in best practices, which includes using a patient's correct pronouns, preferred gender identity, and name throughout a visit. At Trillium Health, not only are we proud to serve the LGBTQ+ community, many of our employees are part of it. And the rest of us are the strongest allies you can find. So come as you are!

WPATH certified

The WPATH Certification Program signifies that a provider is a WPATH member in good standing who has completed a rigorous educational curriculum specific to the most current Standards of Care in transgender health. The extensive 50-hour core competencies-based training program includes course work, mentorship, and a minimum membership requirement before passing a certification exam. We're proud to announce that Dr. Vattana at Trillium Health Pediatrics is now WPATH certified!

Transgender Health FAQs with Bill Schaefer, P.A.

We sat down and talked with Bill Schaefer about transgender health and the Transgender Center of Excellence.

  • There are an estimated 1.6 million transgender people in the U.S., so you are not alone! Gender identity is how individuals perceive themselves and what they call themselves; one's gender identify can be the same or different from their sex assigned at birth. If you would like to talk to someone at the Transgender Center of Excellence, please call Trillium Health at 585.545.7200. Our friendly and welcoming staff will set up an intake appointment to get to know your goals and answer any questions that you might have. Whether you're just curious about microdosing, looking to have top surgery, or beginning your gender transition journey, we can help. We can also set you up with mental health services if appropriate.

  • Trillium Health is a member of WPATH: The World Professional Association for Transgender Health. WPATH has established internationally accepted Standards of Care for the treatment of individuals with gender dysphoria. These internationally accepted guidelines are designed to promote the health and welfare of transgender and gender variant people in all cultural settings. Our entire staff is trained in best practices, which include using the patient’s correct pronouns, preferred gender identity, and name throughout their visit. At Trillium Health, we also offer our transgender patients primary care, PrEP, testing, and care management - treating our patients' social, emotional, and physical health. We serve all patients regardless of their ability to pay, and we offer discounts for services based on family size and income. We're proud to be the region's only Transgender Center of Excellence!

At Trillium Health, we’re here to help by providing all the information you need to make the decisions that are right for you. As you know, we are an informed consent clinic for hormone therapy. This means we take the time to educate you about your options regarding transition and the specifics of treatment. Together, we’ll create a plan that aligns with your transition-related goals.
