Trillium Health Holds Virtual Fundraiser for World AIDS Day

Event will be shown on RCTV and the Friends of Trillium Health Facebook page

(ROCHESTER, NEW YORK, December 1, 2020) –  Trillium Health will hold a virtual fundraiser to commemorate World AIDS Day and raise money to support essential HIV prevention and treatment services in Rochester. The event, which will be co-hosted by Dr. William Valenti, Andrea DeMeo, and Mrs. Kasha Davis, will be presented on Saturday, December 5th at 7:00 pm on RCTV (Channel 1301) and on the “Friends of Trillium Health” Facebook page (@FriendsofTrilliumHealth). It will feature stories about the HIV/AIDS journey and a preview of a play called, “Unfinished Business.”

“World AIDS Day is an opportunity for people worldwide to unite in the fight against HIV, to show support for people living with HIV, and to commemorate those who have died from an AIDS-related illness,” said Andrea DeMeo, President and CEO of Trillium Health. “This year, it’s especially meaningful because we’re fighting two epidemics (HIV and opioids) and a global pandemic (COVID-19). Trillium Health is truly on the front lines of several health crises.”

The virtual fundraiser will include a preview of a new play by David Henderson called, “Unfinished Business.” The play was based on Dr. William Valenti’s memoir – AIDS: A Matter of Urgency. Dr. Valenti founded an HIV/AIDS clinic in 1989 that would ultimately become Trillium Health.

“I’ve been involved in the fight against HIV since the very beginning, and I hope to see it to the very end,” said Dr. William Valenti, Senior Vice President for Strategic Advancement, Chief of Innovation, Co-Founder, and Staff Physician at Trillium Health. “This fundraiser will show how far we’ve come, and the work that we still have to do. It will be an evening filled with awareness, celebration, and remembrance. I encourage you to tune in.”
