October 23, 2023 (Rochester, NY) – Trillium Health is pleased to partner with the New York State Department of Health AIDS Institute and other healthcare organizations across the state to organize PrEP Aware Week 2023. The initiative, running October 23-29, helps raise awareness about Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP), a prescription medication used to prevent HIV.
The theme of this year’s PrEP Aware Week is “PrEP is for Every Body” and emphasizes both body and sex positivity. The campaign features videos and images of eight new ambassadors selected from across New York State, including one from Rochester.
Available in both pill and injectable forms, PrEP is a good option for anyone who is HIV negative. It may be especially right for individuals who have multiple sex partners, have a partner who is living with HIV or whose HIV status is unknown, use injectable drugs, or for people who do not use condoms. It is covered by most insurance plans, and most people pay little-to-nothing for PrEP.
