help keep our community free of used needles
If you see used needles or syringes (also known as “sharps”), follow the tips below to pick them up safely. If you are under the age of 18, please don't touch the needle. Please call 585.210.4137 and leave a voicemail - a member of our team will respond within 1-2 business days.
DO NOT touch a needle with your hands.
Wear thick, heavy gloves on both hands, and use another object, like tongs or pliers, to pick up used needles.
Collect needles in thick, puncture-proof containers. Detergent bottles or coffee cans work well. Place the container on a level surface, and be sure to close the lid tightly.
Dispose of the sharps you collect safely and responsibly. Never put loose sharps in a trash or recycling bin!
where to bring used needles
You can drop off needles in a properly sealed container for free at any hospital or nursing home, or at any of the locations below – no questions asked.
