Equipment Needed for the 5 Day Ride

Bicycling Accessories

· Bicycle: There are as many different styles of bikes as there are riders. AIDS Red Ribbon Ride participants ride road bikes, mountain bikes, hybrids and recumbents.  Since you will be spending many, many hours in the saddle it’s very important that you choose a bike that you will be comfortable on. Two of the most important things you need to do include having your bike checked by a qualified bike mechanic and getting it properly fit for you by a bike fit professional.

· Helmet: All riders must wear ANSI, Snell, or ASTM (or equally accredited) approved helmet at all times during training rides and during the ride.

· 2 Water bottles (camelback type water carriers are also great to use)
· Cycling gloves
· Cycling shoes
· 5 cycling jerseys (moisture wicking)
· 5 pairs Cycling shorts (padded and moisture wicking)
· 5 pairs of socks (moisture wicking)
· Wind jacket
· Rain jacket and pants
· Tire levers
· Bike wrenches
· Tire pump
· Spare tubes
· Patch kit

Clothing and accessories
· T shirts - something to wear back at camp
·Fleece - it can get cold at night
· Jeans or warm up pants
· Swimsuit
· Sandals or flip flops (watch out with bare feet in camp, tent stakes can cause injuries)

· Thermal ground pad
· Flashlight
· 8x8 ground tarp
